The Magic of 8

“I personally selected this film out of hundreds because it was so beautifully shot and came from such a place of purity. As I watched I felt such a soothing peace and serenity. I hope we’ll get to see more of your work in the future. We wish you continued success!”

V.C. Rhone, Faithfest Film Festival Programmer

“Eight” is a multi-sensory performance poem that goes from 0 to infinity in 4 1/2 minutes.

“Eight” by Amy Mevorach, directed by Roger Ingraham, won “Best Experimental Short” and “Programmer’s Selection” at the 2021 FaithFest Film Festival, and was selected as an official nominee in the 2022 Canadian International Faith and Family Film Festival.

“I wanted to amplify and build texture and visual rhythm into Amy Mevorach’s poetry performance, which is truly a multi-dimensional gift that comes from her life lived, hours logged facing herself, spirit, and life. Shooting at the 20 ft. waterfall in the river, we made the myriad performances and filming process into a repeated prayer that often all of nature, sunlight, falling leaves, wind seemed to be supporting in concert with bursts of light and epic breezes in rare timing. For me, creating this piece is an opportunity to honor and amplify the voice, strength, self-love, boundaries and truth of a spirited woman and the spirit of women in general. I feel she embodies in this piece the hard-earned wisdom of her own vulnerability and strength working together in a mutually supportive polarized duo.”
